Yes. More than 30 million of them.
There's no such coin. The last Peace dollars minted for circulation were dated 1935. The last Peace dollars ever minted were dated 1964 but they were never distributed.
Any silver dollar dated 1923 is simply called a Peace dollar. Morgan dollars were made in 1878-1904 and 1921; Peace dollars in 1921-35 and they have very different designs. Please see the Related Question for more information.
The mint mark location on all Peace dollars is between the word ONE and the tip of the eagle's tail.Possible letters are:Blank = Philadelphia (the P mint mark wasn't used on dollars until 1979)D = DenverS = San Francisco
There are Morgan dollars and there are Peace dollars but they're not the same. Morgans were minted from 1878 to November 1921 and Peace dollars were minted from December 1921 until 1935. The designs are VERY different. The mint mark isn't missing. All Philadelphia coins minted at that time did not have mint marks. Dollars didn't use a P mint mark until 1979.The E probably IS missing but that's most likely a common error called a filled die error. It happens when a bit of grease or other crud gets into one of the small recesses of a coin die that forms the letters and numbers when it strikes a coin blank. There are "niche" collectors who will pay small premiums for filled-die coins but in general they're only worth a small amount above their face value.
The mintmark location on all Peace dollars is on the reverse, below the word ONE and above the wing tip of the eagle, very near the rim. It's very small.
There are Morgan dollars and Peace dollars but they're not the same coin. Morgan dollars were minted from 1878 to 1904 and in 1921. A 1922 dollar is a Peace dollar. It's also the most common date. Circulated coins run from $32.00-$37.00 depending on the mint mark ( if any ) and condition of the coin.
This is a Peace dollar. The mintmark for Peace dollars is located on the back to the left of the eagles wingtip. Keep in mind it may be blank if it was made at the Philadelphia mint.
There is no mint mark on the 1921 Peace dollar because they were all minted in Philadelphia and thus carry no mint mark.
It's the monogram of the designer Anthony de Francisci (AF). All Peace dollars have it.
No. Silver dollars minted at Philadelphia did not carry mint marks. Mint mark positions are: Seated Liberty dollars - under the eagle Morgan dollars - above the DO in DOLLAR Peace dollars - between the word ONE and the eagle's tail feathers. Mint mark letters are: blank = Philadelphia D = Denver S = San Francisco O = New Orleans CC = Carson City Dollars weren't minted every year at every mint, so there are many gaps in the series.
The U.S. only ever used a C mint mark on gold coins minted from 1838 to 1861. Please see the Related Question for details about mint marks and values.
The mintmark on all Peace dollars is on the reverse under the word one and just above the tip of the eagles tail.
