No, there are not, considering i live in NC for 23 years now and i have never seen a bald eagle.
The bald eagle is present in Mitchell County, although not common. A pair nested near Bakersville near the lake at Little Switzerland for four years in the 1990's.
Also, a few golden eagles inhabit the area near Graveyard Fields in nearby Haywood County, and these are sometimes spotted near Mount Mitchell.

I am not sure about gods methods but I am certain that Bald Eagles alone are very fast and have sharp talons that help them fight and catch prey. Other than man I do not know any predators of the Bald Eagle.
