The Canadians were in World War I since its inception in l9l4 ( unlike Uncle Sam who only joined arms, so to speak in l9l7) Canadian airman Major Billy Bishop was the highest scoring (72 Confirmed kills) Air ace among the allies. Rickenbacker, American ( Aace of Aces, pulled down only 26 ( the US was only in the War for about l year). Canadians were heavily involved in the Vimy campaign ( noted ground engagement) They even had a home-grown rifle- the Ross. All regiments of the Canadian Army esc except one, which was supplied with the British Enfields, used this somewhat unreliable if accurate arm. The gun had a straight-pull bolt like a modern machine rifle or assault rifle, which it wasn"t . Bolt could let go easily and maim the gunner, or worse. Yes Canada was in the Wars!
