Cryptids Island is the 16th Island of Poptropica, opened to general use on January 18, 2011. The quest is to recover scientific proof about cryptids - legendary creatures that may or may not exist.----------------------------------------------------------There are no "cheats" as such on Poptropica, but there are solutions at the related question below. There are also special items in Poptropica at the related question.
You don't get any wooden poles. There is nothing you really need one for.
Go into the kite store and talk to the lady, and she will let you borrow one for free (just click on any of the kites). You can return it when you are through, or it will appear again the next time you visit Cryptids Island. A kite is like a large "follower" anytime you are outdoors on the main part of Cryptids Island (not the other geographic locales). Like the balloons on Counterfeit Island, the kites lift you up, so you can jump higher. In fact, you can see the entire "Bigfoot or Bust" pedal-blimp at Cliff Park.
When you are at any of the locations, use the helicopter. If you leave the island after getting the helicopter, you can use the gate at the far right of the town to leave or re-enter the mansion.
Any snake you can climb on is not likely to eat a goat. The snakes, gulls, and even the giant iguana are all harmless.
There do not appear to be any sheep anywhere on Cryptids Island. There are many goats at the Puerto Rico location, and part of the plan to catch the chupacabra involves using them as bait. After first testing the fur from the barbed wire fence, return to Puerto Rico to use the jeep to corral the three spotted goats at Snaggletooth Rock.
Grammatical issues, aside, I presume you meant RHODE Island red hens (there's no such thing as LONG Island red hens), which live about five years, the same as any other domesticated chicken.
So far, Poptropica has been releasing three or four islands a year, so you would expect a new one (the 17th island) by late April or early May, 2011.

WHAT WAS Long Island in the 1920's?
Some very dangerous cryptids have killed people: the chupacabra, Yeti, skinwalker, Mokele Mbembe, wendigo, and a few others. Most cryptids avoid humans.
Since you can complete three of the cryptids in any order, that would depend on what you have already done. But you don't have to go back to the Himalayas once you have the lantern and the footprint photo. Get the proof for the other three cryptids (Nessie, chupacabra, and the Jersey Devil) and an opportunity to get the Yeti/Bigfoot will present itself. (see related question)
