what do you mean? like if someone says " I play a strat guitar " and another says "I play bass" then yes bass is a bass guitar. Any instrament can have a bass. like Viola is like an alto to the violin and a bass is the giant cello looking thing. (haha) and a piccolo is like the soprano to the flute. I play flute and bass (guitar).

Never use any bass with any guitar amp. Guitar amps are not meant to handle the lower register of a bass, and the speakers on your guitar amp will blow out if you try to play a bass through them.
