With any of the Guitar Hero Series Game No. Without Rock Band Game Disc No. You need Rock band Disc then you can download them

There are several Rock Band games. Rock Band 1, Rock Band 2, Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 1, 2, Classic Rock, and AC/DC. And on September 9th, Rock Band: The Beatles will be out, (and I already reserved a copy, which you can pretty much do at any game store).

Yes you can. With any rock band/guitar hero/band hero etc. you can use the instruments. a rock band guitar will work with band hero and same with the drums
Can you use the 5-button guitar on Rock Band 3?
In my experience, any guitar worked for both Guitar Hero and Rock Band in the majority of the games, including Rock Band 3.
