there are several ways such as heat & pressure, melting, chemical weathering, compression, compaction & cementation, but it depends on the kind of rock it is for what process it has to go through.

A rock is classified as only one of the three types of rocks. It can only be one type of rock at a time. However, metamorphic rocks start out as other types of rocks. They can be made from igneous or sedimentary rocks. Once those rocks undergo metamorphism, they become metamorphic rocks.

igneous if weathered and eroded turns into sediments, the sediments then go through depostion, compaction and cementaion to form metamorphic rocks metamorphic goes through the same thing if it is weathered and eroded metamorphic can also go slower to turn into sedimentary rock if it becomes an igneous rock first metamorphic rocks can melt and turn to magma which then solidifies and forms igneous then you know goes through weathering and erosion and so on

Almost all rocks will undergo change at one point. So the answer is yes. metamorphic rock can undergo melting, becoming magma, when surfacing and cooling will become igneous rocks. Metamorphic rock can also be weathered and eroded, becoming sediments, which will eventually become sedimentary rock. The same can happen with sedimentary rock. It can become metamorphic rock or magma, eventually forming igneous rocks.

No. Igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary are the three most basic categories for distinguishing rocks. They are separate from one another. Igneous rocks form when molten rock solidifies. Metamorphic rocks form when rock is altered under heat and pressure, but remains in the solid state.

Yes. A number of metamorphic rocks are formed from igneous and other metamorphic rocks. In fact there is a sequence of metamorphic rocks that starts with the sedimentary rock, shale. Shale metamorphoses into slate, which in turn can become phyllite, which can become schist, which can become gneiss. Gneiss can also form by metamorphosing granite, which is an igneous rock.

YES. a sedimentary rock can be melted, then changed to another rock, or can be turned into a metamorphic rock.
