My favourite salad to go with fish is a simple cucumber salad. 1/4 cup of white vinegar 1/4 cup of veggi oil about a tsp of salt, 2 tbsp of finely chopped onion and dill - fresh is best but dried if you can't. Then peel your seedless cucumber and slice razor thin - if you're not good with a knife then take a good veggi peeler and "peel" slices like you would a knife. This is best if it can be made 1 hour ahead of time to get the onions sweeter and the cuc's to break down a little toss every 15 minutes or so.
Yes, Any salad that either contains lemon, onion or garlic is a great accompliment. Warm Cous Cous salad with cherry tomatoes is always a hit and does not over power the fish dish.
