While anyone can attend the worship services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church), there are certain conditions in order to qualify for baptism. These qualifications include:

*believing that God is your Father and that Jesus Christ is His Son and your Savior,

*believing that Joseph Smith did restore the true Church of Jesus Christ to the earth,

*believing that the current president of the Church is a prophet of God,

*feeling that you have sufficiently repented of your past sins,

*not partcipiating in any sexual relationship outside of a legal monogamous marriage,

*not living with a room-mate of the opposite gender,

*following the Word of Wisdom (not using alcohol, coffee, tea, tobacco, illegal drugs),

*willingness to follow the commandments of God and the teachings and doctrines of the Church,

*attended several worship services of the Church and demonstrate an intention to continue attendance,

*understanding of the basic doctrines of the Church as taught by the missionaries,

*willing and ready to covenant with God that you will take upon yourself the name of Jesus Christ and follow His commandments throughout your life.

*you must be at least 8 years old. If under 18 you must also have your parent's permission.

Once you meet these requirements you will be interviewed by a missionary or congregation leader to determine if you are ready for baptism, and a date for baptism will be set. If you have any questions or concerns about meeting the requirements, speak with a missionary or congregation leader. It is their job to answer your questions and to help you overcome any issues that you have in meeting these requirements.
