As a Christian you need to be in prayer and also lead others to Christ - through soul winning, because that is what God expects of us.
22For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
Jesus Christ and His power and presence is all the Christian needs, and as mentioned above, He's given Christians plenty to do. == Definitely yes. But if it give solace to the pilgrim, who are we to judge?
Undoubtedly many are solaced or healed, but the question is whether it is a true or a false comfort. God does not want people to be deceived. Or, as preacher Dr. Tom Malone once said 'all the devil's apples got worms'. The final cost of deception is that it enslaves and you must have more, or it proves illusory.
I would never judge the persons who go to Lourdes as I do not know them, but The Bible clearly warns of deception, which can come in many guises. Things can appear good but not be what they seem. Please see Discuss Question Page.
No because other religions have to do certain things before, during or after their prayer.
Outside of all of the things associated with the pilgrimages, there are many other things in and around of Lourdes. The town is at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains and they are a great attraction. People go skiing in them in winter. Gavarnie is a beautiful place near Lourdes. The river that flows through Lourdes is the river Gave, and it rises in Gavarnie. Many people visit Gavarnie. There is also the Lake of Lourdes that people visit, which is close to the town. There is a golf course close to Lourdes and also a rugby stadium.
Pilgrims will be most interested in the activities on the pilgrimages, but there are things for ordinary tourists. Lourdes has a huge amount of hotels and other accommodation. It has lots of restaurants and shops and places of entertainment. There is a large fort that overlooks the town with a museum about the Pyrenees in it. The Pyrenees is the mountain range that Lourdes is at the bottom of. People can go skiing there. There is a golf course close to Lourdes and other sporting facilities that tourists may use. There are lots of tours run from Lourdes to different places around it. There are day trips to Spain available. There are lots of nice towns in the area and lovely scenery. So there are lots of things a tourist can do in Lourdes and in the surrounding area for people who are not interested in the religious aspects of Lourdes, and even for the people who are interested in the religious aspects. Some of them will also do some of those other things.
Lourdes is a town itself, so it is not in any other city.
yes Jesus is very important to christians as old prophecies were fulfilled. And we have salvation. No other religion gives you that.
It was important because he was the son of god.
When a location becomes known for having been visited by the Holy Mother, it becomes a place of pilgrimage and donations to the local church quickly allow for the construction of impressive shrines and for the betterment of the church and its community. In this case, a 14-year-old peasant girl, Bernadette Soubirous, told her mother that she had seen a 'lady' in the cave of Massabielle, about a mile from Lourdes, while she was gathering firewood with her sister and a friend. Similar appearances of the lady were reported on seventeen further occasions that year, and many Christians believe the sightings to have been of Mary mother of Jesus.Pope Pius IX authorised the local bishop to permit the veneration of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes in 1862. Lourdes is now a site for Catholic pilgrimage, receiving over 80,000 pilgrims a year. It renowned for its cures and approximately 7000 people have sought to have cures confirmed as miracles, but only 68 of these have been declared as scientifically inexplicable by both the Lourdes Medical Bureau and the Catholic Church. This number is so small as to suggest that these cases were likely to have been cured or gone into remission anyway. While Lourdes is important for the Catholic Church, it is not at all important for other Christians, most of whom are barely aware of its existence.
As with any place that attracts millions of visitors, there is a lot of commercialism in Lourdes. People do want to buy souvenirs from Lourdes and other practical items and local people need to make a living, so the commercialism serves a function. The most important features of Lourdes is within the area known as the Domain, where the churches and the grotto are and it is free of commercialism. The commercialism does not stop people going to Lourdes. Some people may not like it, but even for them, it does not stop them doing what they have come to Lourdes to do as part of their pilgrimages.

It shows they are Christians
Roman Catholic AnswerCatholics call themselves Christians because they are Christians. Catholics are forbidden by the Commandments to worship pictures, handmade things, or to commit idolatry so they do none of these things.
