Most high schools with vending machines do make money off of proceeds from vending machines on their campuses. The number of schools that serve fast food varies widely by region and school district policies. In the United States, many high schools and some middle schools have partnerships with fast food chains, and a 2018 study indicated that about 60% of high schools had vending machines or snack bars selling fast food. However, specific figures can fluctuate over time as schools respond to nutritional guidelines and public health initiatives. Overall, the prevalence of fast food in schools remains a topic of debate regarding student health and nutrition.

Nutrition in schools is very bad. Our kids are fed with mostly processed foods high in calories and fat. The vending machines sell mostly junk food. Schools are financially struggling to provide better choices.
