There has never been an accident on Demon Drop. However, there was an accident on the freefall ride "The Edge" at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL, where a supporting cable snapped, and the car plummeted to the bottom of the tower. Four teenagers were hospitalized and later released. After this accident, more safety precautions were instilled in the ride, including double the number of anti-rollbacks. When the ride reopened, ridership was low, so the ride was dismantled in 2006, and the parts are used to maintain Demon Drop at Cedar Point.
