Are trains better than planes?

In my opinion trains are better than planes. Trains have a better and more interesting history that dates back to the fifteenth century. Trains are better for the environment and get you to just as many places and plane's. OK, they can't get you to America but if someone invested then I bet they could get you to America, it would be a tunnel like the one from England to France, except across the Atlantic ocean and not the English channel. Some great inventors are involved with trains and trains helped with the industrial revolution. If trains had not been invented then we might not have today's thriving enterprise system. That's my opinion

How dangerous can trains be?

Trains can and sometimes are fatal. This sometimes happens when a train derails, or collides with a pedestrian, car, truck, bus, another train, etc. Compared with other modes of transport, while light rail trains (trams) are statistically about as dangerous as being in a car, other types of trains (subways, intercity rail, commuter trains) are about 4 to 8 times safer than riding in trams or cars. Buses fall midway between the two: they're half as dangerous as being in a car or tram, but twice as dangerous as the other kinds of trains. Much safer than any of the above are airplanes. To conclude: if you don't want to fly, an intercity train line is your safest choice.
