I would say as an opinion (i am not an attorney) that in Nevada they would be illegal for two reasons: 1 Nevada has a law so broad concerning 'missiles, projectiles, paint balls, or any other kind of projectile propelled out of a device that employ gas, spring, mechanical pumping, or the ingnition of a propellant used in a device to propel the afore mentioned projectiles shall be illegal to point at or shoot at another human being. Simple posession is not illegal. 2 The use of any controlled substance not prescibed by a licensed physician and dispensed by a licensed pharmasist is illegal to posses, purchase or attempt to purchase. If you have innert harmless liquid in the dart and shot some one you would most likely be charged with aggravated assault and then plead down to simple assault. If there was a controlled substance in the dart and you shot a person, you could be charged with attempted murder, and at the very least two separate felony counts: 1 delivery of a controlled substance into the body of another human being, and 2 aggravated assault for actually shooting the person with the dart. If I know Las Vegas justice, and I do, you would get a minimum of two years and up to 10 depending on how much money you had to give the judge. In Judge Steve Millers court it would cost about 15 to 20 thousand to 'make it go away' But only about 1/3 of Las Vegas judges are corrupt, so if you don't have the money and the right judge you are doing time. By the way. What in the hell do you need a dart gun for if not for emergency animal controll? Best regards Jawn Bouy

This is a slang term for a tranquilizer gun. Tranquilizer guns are usually air-powered and fire syringes filled with sedative that release their contents upon striking the target.
