Tums is a base. because if it was an acid , it wouldn;t help acid reflux.

Tums is not an acid or a base, its main ingredient, calcium carbonate is a salt. The calcium carbonate reacts with the hydrochloric acid in your stomach to form Calcium Chloride, water and Carbon Dioxide gas.
