UGGS or UGG Boots were once (and now resumed) a totally Australian designed and manufactured item. A recent patent on the name by the USA put a legal challenge on Australia preventing Australian UGG Boot manufacturers from using this name.
This initially almost wiped out one of this country's manufacturing industries and caused some extremely unfriendly and tense relationships, much of which still last to this day where business trust and friendship took an all time low.
This is typical with most items that other countries appear to steal others and then block names or items through a somewhat suspicious judiciary system that only the wealthiest have resources to challenge.
Many countries, including Australia, saw this as common bullying, theft and a money orientated copyright legal system gone berserk with impropriety.
Australia has now resumed production of the "Original" UGG BOOTS and advised that they will continue to do so regardless of the dictatorial-ship of other countries, as it is not the right of other countries to dictate terms in this particular matter.
UGGS have never before been copyrighted, and should never have been. China may well produce UGGS, but only Australia has the 100% Originals from 100% Australian products.

Why were uggs made?
