OpinionWhat war between heaven and hell? So many fanciful ideas have grown up around the notions of heaven and hell, the supposed fall from grace of Satan and the supposed war between heaven and hell. As a young child, I learnt that God is omnipotent - he can do whatever he likes, without restriction. If that is remotely true, there can be no war between heaven and hell, and the archangel Michael need never lift a finger to fight the forces of evil. Otherwise, everything is imagination.
Answer:One man's cannon fodder is another man's valuable life's experiences.
According to
The Bible, the "war in heaven" was won by Michael and his army of angels. Those who were "defeated" were cast back down to the earth (Rev.12:7-9), where they are now restrained and not allowed to leave and are awaiting Judgment Day.
"...the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the Judgment of the Great Day." (Jude 1:6)
So, if the Bible is True, and men are becoming God's children... His future, to be born one day into His Family... why pass up a golden opportunity to let these "restrained fallen angels" give His children some rather harsh lessons in the vile ways of evil, that man may learn where wickedness truly leads?
Why not make man out of "clay" first... let him experience "the dark side"... before He finalizes His product? Then, on Judgment Day... assess each potential child and keep the ones who overcame the adversity and the negativity... and chose the good over the evil?
Why not make mercy and forgiveness available to every child who experiences the depths of sin and evil... and keep those who have developed the righteous character necessary to reject it... the ones who were "refined" and "purified" in the fires of their tribulations... repented of it... and have learned to love and care and be, themselves, merciful and forgiving IN SPITE OF IT?
"...we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, which He has given us... God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us..." (Rom.5:2-8 NIV).
One man's cannon fodder is another man's "tried and tested."
Our Creator, who, we are taught, is omnipotent and able to do whatever He pleases without restriction... is indeed capable of sinning, Himself. But, HE CHOOSES NOT TO.
Should He not allow those who would be His children the experiences necessary to make the same choice?
Our Creator has restricted Himself... to do good... to obey His own laws... and governs the universe righteously by them.
There was war in heaven, once... and that war was won by God's trusted angelic forces. But, those who perpetrated the rebellion against His Government have not yet been punished... and have not yet come to trial for their crimes. They are still in restraint, still in jail... still roaming the earth... performing, if you will, the only "public service" of which they are capable until their trial date: TEACHING MANKIND ALL ABOUT HOW BAD EVIL IS!
Perhaps some men may be said to be cannon fodder as a result of that ancient war in heaven. Some men will indeed succumb to the evil they are learning. But it will be their choice in the end. Mercy and forgiveness is waiting for anyone who rejects it, overcomes it and repents of it.
But according to God's laws, it will all come to trial, be judged... and be rectified. And the fallen angels who sinned first will be judged by the Children of God whom they taught their lessons of evil (in conjunction with God's lessons of love and mercy), whereby their righteous character was developed and grew and became dominant within them.
"...Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?... Do you not know that we will judge angels?" (I Cor.6:2-3 NIV)
Jesus Christ: "...hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." (Rev.5:10)
One man's cannon fodder is another man's "fully-trained future rulers of the world."
