I don't think springer spaniels are a good choice for allergy sufferers. They are large dogs that have a lot of hair and they also shed quite a bit of dander. My parents have an English springer spaniel and I get skin Allergies sometimes when I pet the dog and she makes my eyes itchy ever once in a while. I own a small rat terrier and have slight allergies to this dog but not to the extent as the springer because she's about 1/5th the size. I think the main concern is if you know you have allergies to dogs it might not be worth the risk to purchase one, especially not a large dog that will give you more dander than a smaller dog. At first I was really sad that I couldn't buy a springer (due to allergies) but the smaller dog has been just as fun, energetic and loving as the springer is.
Welsh Springer Spaniels weigh from 16 - 20 kg.
You can get different types of springer spaniels: English, Welsh.
All Welsh Springer Spaniels should naturally have moderately long fur.
Brown and white Springer Spaniels can be either English Springer Spaniels or Welsh Springer Spaniels, as both breeds can exhibit these color patterns. The English Springer Spaniel typically has a more varied color range, including brown and white, while the Welsh Springer Spaniel is primarily red and white. Both breeds have distinct characteristics and histories, but color alone does not determine their origin.

The Welsh Springer Spaniel is in the AKC Sporting Group.
Springer Spaniels originated in the United Kingdom, with their history dating back to the 19th century. They were primarily bred as hunting dogs, specifically for flushing game birds from dense underbrush. The breed is divided into two main types: the English Springer Spaniel and the Welsh Springer Spaniel, each with distinct characteristics but sharing a common ancestry. Over time, they have become popular as versatile family pets and working dogs due to their friendly nature and intelligence.
Yes. All spaniels are prone to ear infections, all dogs that have floppy ears are prone to ear infections. I must check my cocker each and everyday. He enjoys the interaction and does not even know I am checking his ears.
