Note with any breed of dog (and also cats) the animals's saliva can also make you itch or provoke allergic reactions. Wash your hands after patting, and don't rub your eyes. Gradual exposure is part of the answer. Animals that lick themselves, such as cats, are therefore worse. Try visiting someone else's Yorkie first to see how you go. Labradoodles were bred to have non-allergenic coats. Good luck - it's worth persevering! Marilyn Brouwer
YES! They are phenomenal for people with Allergies. My entire family suffers from pet allergies very bad, but our Yorkie hasn't bothered us in the year or so that we've had him. He even sleeps in our bed and has no problems.
On a side note, another one of the great things about them is that there's not that "dog smell" you get with other dogs, so it makes them even friendlier on the nose!
Yorkies are supposed to be hypoallergenic but some people are still allergic to them. They are said to be hypoallergenic because they have hair not fur, but something about their saliva makes some allergic to them. The only way to know if you are allergic to them is by meeting one--since it depends on the person. :)
If you are allergic to dogs then you will be allergic to yorkies. Hope this helps!!
Yes, yorkies do not shed and will not cause people to sneeze.
Yes their hair is like human hair so they are very good for allergies!

Not just Yorkies, all dogs shed, so if your child is allergic to dogs then keep him away from ALL dogs. Not just Yorkies, even if they tend to shed a lot too. It all depends on the individual. My children and I have asthma and our Yorkie doesn't bother us at all. I do bathe him every couple days as well as take him to the groomer every other month, just to keep all of our allergies in check (even his!)

You can get Yorkies in many different places. So probably, yes. I think you can.
