More likely to be asked to try out for Selection, yes, but still very small chances of making it in. Each year, Delta goes over Army records for the best Green Berets and Rangers, and ask them to try out for Delta Selection. Only the top 0.1% of those asked will actually make it through and be accepted. You have a much higher probability of making it into the NFL or NBA than making it into Delta Force. After a candidate is admitted into the unit, they then undergo years of more specialized and rigorous training. If you're a regular Army soldier, you may be asked to try out for Delta Selection, but you really have to be an extraordinary standout for them to notice you. You can't just sign up somewhere, they ask you; and they're mostly looking and Green Berets and Rangers because they know that they are the best.

Neither one is particularly easy to get into. RIP and Ranger school are a bit more intensive over a short period of time, whereas SFAS and the Q Course make for a much longer evaluation and assessment period.

SFAS and most things SF are based on individual motivation and maturity to a greater degree than Ranger, Both are quite difficult. If you have aspirations for being either then the question of which is harder is a terrible start. The Ranger Bats would be my choice if you are young (under 25) and don't have a great deal of military experience, SF would better suit most that have more military and life experience. Both units are well trained and specialize / adapt to the battlefield of their era but their missions are different, Rangers are an assault (spearhead force) very aggressive and well conditioned, SF doesn't have the numbers to conduct a very large scale assault so they utilize advanced training and experience or train others to assault what they need assaulted which probably sounds like the easier of the two but in order to train and recruit you have to first experience and learn neither of which are easy when done on the level required to be a soldier under SOCOMS command. In my era 156 of us started RIP 8 of us made it thru and went to a Battalion and 1 year later only 3 of us were still active, 20 years later my son went thru SFAS I don't know the numbers but the attrition rate was very similar. I doubt if you will experience anything in life that will test you like RASP (previously RIP) or SFAS I am now 46 and nothing has come close. If you want to be either one then study, get in shape, get in shape, get in shape, use your head, stop looking for easy and never quit. The work starts after the selection and all of the cool guy stuff becomes a tool and isn't that cool after you use it so much. Special operations are revered for a reason, everyone under SOCOMS veil (SEALS, PJ's, CCT's, KAG, SF, Ranger, 160th and others) have put in the work to be accepted as a member. Would you want your life in the hands of someone who wasn't of the highest character and trustworthiness along with having a strong work ethics that allows them to be there no matter what if you were in situations that endangered your life on a regular basis, No you wouldn't and neither do the men that do that work. To be honest the fact that you ask which is easier is somewhat insulting.

What is the maximum age to become a Green Beret Delta Ranger or Navy SEAL?

Beret's are between 20-30. Anyone in the army is age-eligible to become Ranger qualified. Doesn't mean everyone who goes through can pass the training though. Don't know about SEALs and Delta Force. They are the grizzly old vets though so they're probably older.

Who are the youngest commissioned officers in the Delta Force during 1966 to 1986?

Delta wasn't around until 77. Before that, it was Blue Light, which was a 5th SFG team that was created for 2-3 years until Delta was operational. Beckwith was 48 when the unit was first operational. He lead the unit until 81. Most Delta officers are experienced SOF soldiers with several years in the Ranger or SF Groups. They are most likely in their early to mid thirties when they join the Unit. However, the majority of former and all current Delta members' IDs are kept secret to protect them and ongoing operations.

How do you join delta force?

There are a few ways to get selected for Delta training. They send out Army-wide advertisements twice a year and you can respond to those. They can personally send someone to recruit you if you have a skill they need, such as a rare language. Most Delta recruits are Ranger and Special Forces veterans with several years of experience. If you are deadset on getting into Delta, then join the Army, be the best in your basic training class, join the Rangers or Special Forces, and work to be the best in your selection and training classes. After a good amount of time in those units, then you might be able to go to Delta selection. Most Delta shooters are in their early to mid-thirties, with years of special operations experience under their belt.

Can you just become a Green Beret or a Delta Force member or do you have to serve in the army for a certin amount of years?

You can enlist with a Special Forces contract aka 18X. However, this only guarantees you a chance to train into SF. If you pass the training, then you are placed into a SF unit. After that, you normally spend several years in SF before you try out for Delta. If you pass Delta selection and and all the subsequent training, then you are assigned to an operational team within the unit.
