You should inhale deeply as you pump the inhaler. The medicine in the inhaler will travel to your lungs as you breathe in. Try to hold your breath for 7 seconds after you inhale, to give the medicine a chance to work on your lungs before you breath out the air that was in your lungs.
You might taste the bitter medicine a little bit; if you taste a lot it means you aimed the inhaler at your tongue and should probably try again so that the medicine can go toward your throat and down to your lungs.
