No. But here are pros and cons of both:
Our Generation Pros:
Cheaper
Our Generation Cons:
Terrible quality
Hair Mats easily and is horrible
Broke the 2nd day we had it
Not as pretty as AGs
Not as easy to maintain as AGs while being easier to break.
American Girl Pros:
Teaches Girls Lessons in American history, making friends, doing the right things, overcoming problems, etc.
Wonderful quality that will last many years.
Are meant for play AND display, and won't break when played with
Hard to break
Easy to fix when broken, if you take the initiative
If you don't there's a doll hospital you can send them to
Huge interesting collection of accessories
Purchase a customized doll to look like you
Buy the doll stuff you like to do and she can do it with you. ( violin guitar skating tennis... The list goes on and on...)
Doll is a wig, not rooted so hairstyles look nice
Hair is so soft
More dolls to choose from.
I could go forever with this list.
American Girl Cons:
Are a bit expensive at $100, but you get exactly what you pay for.
Things the same: 18" dolls. Outfits are interchangeable to some extent.

∙ 11y agoNo, not exactly. my generation dolls are a little smaller. Also, the hair is different then American girl doll's hair, it is a different texture. In my opinion, i think that american girl doll have a little bit more detail, which is why they are more expensive.

∙ 9y agoYes. Other than the shoes, American Girl clothes will fit most other 18" cloth bodied dolls. Some shoes will fit, but it is best to either make your own, or buy from the Generation line.

I have tried Our Generation clothes on American Girls and they fit- however, snugly. My sister bought some cowgirl boots for her Kit doll, and we had to cut slits in the back to fit her feet in. They also fit Maplelea too, because I have bought several outfits and they have all fit Jenna. I am not a fan of OUR GENERATION

She started the company to not only teach little girls about the past, but to also allow the girls to have good-quality dolls that they could use their imaginations to play with. Rowland also noticed that the only dolls available to play with were the adult Barbie (that was not appropriate for young girls to play with) and baby dolls...so another reason to make American Girl Dolls...But the company was then bought by Mattel (Ironically the same people that produce Barbie) and it's now a money making business that promotes cheaply made dolls that are "Just Like You." i also love American girl. I personally think that American Girl is genius because little girls listen to these dolls and it teaches them history:)=

American Girl dolls ( do not confuse with a magazine once affiliated with the GSA) are originally a series of historical types, with different names, backgrounds, eras- and props. The idea is something similar to , well historical models of classic cars, etc, but here done with dolls. all are made under the same House so to speak, including props like Felicity's so-called Guitar which is actually a Mandolin. ( Felicity is the American-Colonial doll) . The Madame Alexander dolls cover a wide range but are not primarily historical types- of course historical dolls are nothing new- on the male side- G.I. Joe and Johnny Reb. Jiohnny Reb and his famous Cannon were made by Marx during the Civil War centennial in the early sixties.
