Why is Armenia attacking Azerbaijan?

Actually Armenia is not attacking Azerbaijan right now. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union (USSR), there was a disagreement between the Azerbaijani SSR and the Armenian SSR over a land inside Azerbaijan where most of the population was Armenian. The people of this region wanted to join Armenia, while Azerbaijan didn't want to give up its territory. This resulted in a war between the two countries, and in the end the region broke off from Azerbaijan, and is being supported by Armenia. However ever country (including Armenia) considers those lands as part of Azerbaijan. It should be noted that, when the Soviet Union ended, the republics (including Azerbaijan) wanted independence, but Azerbaijan was not willing to give the same independence to this Armenian speaking region. It is true however that this land used to belong 100% to Azeris, and the residents were Azeri. But over the years the population shifted to mostly Armenian. It is sad to see that two countries who used to be one are now fighting each other. Many Armenians used to peacefully live in Azerbaijan, and vise-versa. Tragedy. The war was very bloody, and both soviet republics ended up killing innocent civilians. This is why the peace process is taking very long.

Does Armenia have a trade agreement with Iran?

As far as I know my dear friend, Armenia's biggest trade partner on that particular geographical zone is Iran. I have travelled to this country in summer 2006, forced to come back to Iran by bus, a chain of trucks and tanks were transporting consumer goods to Armenia. My studies showed that oil & petroleum, chemical materials and simple industrial products are heavily exported to Armenia as well as wheat and some major nutrition elements. The truth is that Armenia has limited natural resources, while trade between Armenia and its other neighbors (Turkey & Azerbaijan) is limited due to former and historical conflicts. It seems that Armenia will have a bright future, since Armenians are hard working people that are eager to improve and be a developed country rather than developing one! I'm not sure about any major agreement, but since one of the major exports martial of Armenia is alcoholic beverages, I assume there is not a balanced export/import ratio between these countries!
