There must have been SOME evidence of an actual physical assault on the victim, or a witness who corroborated their story, or else police would not have had sufficient probable cause to make an arrest. If this was the case you are in some trouble, because it is difficult if not impossible to prove a negative fact (i. e.: that you did NOT assault them). You must be able to present SOME evidence that will raise doubt in the mind of the prosecutor or judge that you did not, could not, or would not have assaulted the victim. If enough doubt is raised on the story told by the alleged victim the complaint MIGHT be dismissed.
