The short answer is yes, but there is something terribly important that you need to check before you take them. Codeine is almost always dispensed in a tablet that also contains either acetaminophen (Tylenol) or aspirin. You need to know what is already in that codeine tablet so you don't take more of the same product. Even a small overdose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) can have serious consequences; please use it very carefully.

But sometimes pharmaceutical companies will combine aspirin with codeine to help a patient deal with pain. Sometimes codeine is combined with acetaminophen (Tylenol) for the same purpose.
In most countries, a doctor must prescribe this combination to their patient to buy it legally,
