If you have a manual gearbox you should use neutral AND foot brake at traffic lights. If you have automatic you can leave it in Drive with your foot firmly on the foot brake. (Some instructors would tell you to move it to neutral and keep your foot on the foot brake.)
A foot is a unit of measure, not just a body part. It equals about 30 cm. "Within 1000 feet" means at a distance of less than 1000 feet, which is about 300 metres.
There aren't any square feet in nine feet. Square feet are 1 foot wide by 1 foot long. Nine feet is nine feet. You don't give any width or depth for someone to calculate. If you took your nine feet and cut it into one foot lengths you would be able to make two and one fourth, one square foot boxes if that's what your question is.

It is not a good idea to drive with two feet on an automatic transmission unless your stopped on a hill. In that case you would press the brake with your left foot and the gas just a little with your right foot.
