'play' is a bad word for any weapon. kids 'learn' to use weapons with parent(s) approval. the age to start should meet with parent(s) approval and that may differ among parent(s). common sense prevails.........

there is no age that you have to be to play airsoft I've seen kids as young as 5 playing. EDIT: There is no legal age limit on using an air-soft gun but you do have to be 18 years of age or older to buy one from a store.

Interesting question! If you're talking about pistols, C02 is definitely the way to go. Electric pistols are usually made cheaply, but C02 pistols seem to last forever. I've had one for about 1 and a half years and it's still running strong. Also, C02 pistols shoot faster and harder
