I suggest doing this. Install an oil pressure gauge. It should never fall below 40 lbs and never go above 50. Many people lug the engine for the sound effect, however that causes the oil pressure to fall below 40 lbs and that not good. Typically though you should go to second at about 15 mph, third at 25 to 30, forth at 35 to 40, and fifth at 45 to 50. Unless you want to haul a**. 6th is on you, sorry.
