It is not unusual for a cat to wait to urinate for up to 48 hours if there is not litter box available. If you have a male cat who has not urinated in a day, and has access to a litterbox, it should be checked for a urinary blockage.
My vet told me (for small dogs under 20 lbs) to take their weight and divide it by 2. That's how many hours your doggie can or should be able to hold it. So for example, My dog is an 8 lb yorkie. He should be able to hold it for 4 hours.
Not sure about all dogs but one day a few years ago my husband and I were locked out of our house after work and by the time we got in, our dog had gone about 13 hours without going to the bathroom!
"The formula for how long a dog can hold it without going to the bathroom is the number of months old they are plus one is how many hours they can hold it. With smaller breeds it is usually a little less. So your three month old can make it about three to four hours before they physically can't hold it anymore."
Another Answer
I just wanted to say that I disagree with the above answer. This answer then means that a 13 or 14 year dog would be able to hold it for more than 150 hours if my math is correct and that is equal to more than 6 days.
So, I think everyone will be able to see that there is a big flaw in your answer. That is, unless you are referring only to puppies in which case you should have said puppies and not dogs. Meaning, you should have been more specific because I really think that this formula is probably only true and accurate if you apply it to puppies and not adult dogs.
Unless for adult dogs you go by years and not months which you also should have said. Even then a 13 year old dog is not going to be able to wait 14 hours to go to the bathroom and a 14 year old dog is not going to be able to wait 15 hours to go to the bathroom. I know this to be true because the dog I had growing up lived to be at least 14 and she could not wait 15 hours.
The older the dog gets the more often they will have to go. Also, the smaller the dog the more often they will have to go because they will have smaller bladders. Hope this helps and I am sorry but what I have said makes a good point.
I would guess it depends on the amount of water one drinks. From personal experience, I can see that male dogs, especially when going for walks, like to hold their bladder and go in short spurts. This is because they feel the need to pee everywhere and anywhere to get their scent on objects that they "claim," or, "claim over (another dog)." Females aren't as territorial, and so they pee all at once usually.
Google if you want a more scientific answer, but then again this isn't exactly the most researched scientific study! :)
This depends on how much water the puppy has drank. If s/he drank the whole bowl, s/he probably will pee a lot. If s/he drank a few licks, then s/he may not pee as much unless she drank more water before the few sips. This really is a question that varies from puppy to puppy. My advice would be to talk to your vet.
It depends how much it drinks. Personally i let my dog out every morning, lunchtime, and evening. When a dog wants to go out it will sometimes stand at the door so you should know if it wants one or not.
up to 4 days. although even housetrained dogs can cause 'accidents'.
When their bladders get full.
I believe they will pee on any pee. All that matters is the smell to them.
Because dogs pee when they are excited.
Lots of dogs get excited when happy and leak pee, especially the small dogs
you are so dumb dogs don't pee when they go swimming what is wrong with you? you are an idiot and a farthead buttface haaaaahahahahaahah!!!!!!! stew pudidty Hawaii
no it does not. Cat urine often contains/produces ammonia, where as a dogs urine does not. However it is not recommended you smell either!! i think they all smell and taste the same from personal references ;) lol
When they need too.... theres no specific time

The poodle dogs urine (pee) is yellow.
If a person is cold a lot and has to pee often may have a cold. The person could also be pregnant, because the urge to pee is a sign of pregnancy.
