The women stayed at home and took care of the children. The slaves did the housework. The men, when not involved with politics, tended their fields, and often sailed drank and attended the Olympic games for fun. The boys stayed at home until the age of seven, and began school. When they turned eighteen, they were required to take two years of military school.
