Henry Osborn King (H.O. King), born in Wolvercote in1861 and died in 1946, hymn- tune writer and a big figure in Wolvercote, Oxford, composed the tune 'Wolvercote'. He thought Ferguson, organist at St. Edward's school nearby might like to see it. According to the family, they did not like to make a fuss when Ferguson claimed it for his own when he had moved to Lancing School. The Wolvercote Local History Society would like to hear from anyone who knows anything to the contrary or more informaton.

Yet it was saidIt should not stand in thy posterity,But that myself should be the root and fatherOf many kings. How Do I Love Thee? How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. AI love thee to the depth and breadth and height BMy soul can reach, when feeling out of sight BFor the ends of being and ideal grace. AI love thee to the level of every day's AMost quiet need, by sun and candle-light. BI love thee freely, as men strive for right. BI love thee purely, as they turn from praise. AI love thee with the passion put to use CIn my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith. DI love thee with a love I seemed to lose CWith my lost saints. I love thee with the breath, DSmiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, CI shall but love thee better after death. DThat is the rhyme scheme of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnet 43 (How Do I Love Thee?)
