it sounds like there is a ripped, torn, or just worn out seal on one of your clutches inside transmission. so when fluid gets hot and thins out it just flows past the seal.
The transmission is broken. Take it to a shop.
the clutch or clutches in the transmission are bad, even if changing the tranny filter helps the forward gears will not be right and quit again
Well, that vehicle would have had a TH350 trans. So, it would have had 3 forward gears, and then a 4 low in the T-case, so actually, you could split each gear in the trans, making 6, actual forward gears. And then, actually, 2 reverses.
NO, THE FLUID IS ALL THE WAY IN THE TRANS. IT WONT BOIL OVER OR ANYTHING BUT IF YOU GET CRAP INSIDE OF IT YOU CAN KISS YOU GEARS/TRNSMISSION GOOD BYE!! ''''
Drain your trans fluid and loosen your clutch cable. Pull off the right side of your trans before it get eaten up by the trans gears.
try adding trans fluid
There are many reasons. Take it to a trans shop.
drop the transmission pan and change the fluid and trans filter
Whoever owns the vehicle should have it taken to a mechanic for inspection. It sounds like something's wrong with the gears, not the fluids. If it's the gears you should probably have the transmission rebuilt. If it's the fluids have that refilled.
Gears is what transmission is for. No gears. No transmission!
it doent take transmission fluid unless your tranny has gears if it is just equipped with a cedntrifugal clutch no transmission fluid is needed.
The first thing to check is that your transmission fluid level is correct. If it is too low the trans cannot pressurize. DO NOT Overfill.
