Definitely the Bach. I play Trumpet and the Stradivarius is my favorite. What the real question is: what bore? I like the .38 because it has a more lively sound and is light and bouncy. If you are thinking of buying one, definitely look at both the King Flair and the Stradivarius.

I would suggest a Bach for the easy playing, great durability, and affordability. My favourite Bach is the Bach Omega. Another wonderful instrument is the King Silverflair (my favourite Trumpet over all) because of its beautiful sound, look, and it is hard to dent.
It's a cheap instrument, not a good value. Look for King, Bach, Getzen or Olds trumpets. They are great in quality, especially the vintage ones.
The answer is different for every person. The best musicians could play on a Wal Mart special trumpet and make it sound like a Monet. However, for most musicians, the most satisfaction will come from playing a high quality instrument, such as the Bach Stradivarius, or the Yamaha Xeno. Personally, I play a Bach Strad, and love it. However, my trumpet instructor swears by the Yamaha Xeno. There are several other reputable brands available, but I have found these to be the best.
Johann Sebastian Bach

For that price, the best option is to look for something used, because anything new under $400 is going to be junk. Some brands to consider include Bach, Getzen, Yamaha, Holton, King, and Olds.
Many great trumpet players have been called king. Among them: * Al Hirt * Buddy Bolden * Freddie Keppard * Joe Oliver
