You possibly have a loose alternator belt or the alternator is weak. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be 13.5 ? 16 volts. Any less and the alternator is weak and needs replacing. Also make sure the connections at the battery are clean and tight.

Battery light comes on and won’t go off have put in new battery
Usually when the battery light comes on its the Alternator, or a bad wire from Alternator to battery, but id check Alternator first.
Your alternator is not keeping the battery charged.
If it won't crank, which is probably what you really have going on, it means your battery went bad while you were driving.
The security light might come on while you are driving because it has a motion detector on it and when it senses the cars movement the light comes on.
First off you posted this in the wrong section. lol Anyway the light usually comes on when the alternator is no longer charging the battery while driving, most likely it means that either the battery has low voltage or your alternator is becoming a little faulty.
your Alternator
The car will stop if the battery cable comes loose.
Either the battery is weak and not charging properly, the connections are dirty on the terminals of the battery or the alternator is not putting out enough power. If you rev up the van does it go out or is it on while you are driving?
Charging system problem. Normally this means there is a problem with the alternator.
i wish there was an answer here. this just has happened to me on my 2001 dodge neon. while i was driving the battery light flicked on and at the same time my power steering locked making it difficult to turn... i dont know what to do im still researching for answers.
If the ABS and brake light are coming on while driving, this is an indicator that it is time to get your brakes checked and replaced. If not, the brakes will wear out causing you to not be able to stop.
Depends on if it drained while you were driving or ran down while it was parked overnight. If the battery runs down while you're driving the vehicle then more than likely the alternator is defective. If the battery drains while the vehicle is parked then the problem is either a dead cell in the battery or a light is on somewhere on the vehicle. Could be a under hood light, trunk, glovebox, dome, or even the brake lights. It can also be a relay that is stuck.
