sometime is hard to get it out, I already had this problem but always managed to yank it out. my only advice: pull harder...
There is an opening underneath the battery in the plastic casing. Use something (I used one of those screwdrivers with replaceable bits with no bit so it was not sharp)to put in that hole. Then use a floor jack to push it up. I don't know how bad yours is stuck. But mine was bad and this popped it right out.
Remove motorcycle seat by putting key in seat lock and holding it in the unlock position, then lift it up and remove it. The battery cover is on top of the battery just behind the gas tank. Cover is removed by sliding it out. Loosen and remove the terminal connectors on both battery poles with a screwdriver. Finally remove the rubber band that secures the battery in place. The rubber band is easily removed by pulling it out of its brace. The battery can now be removed and a new one installed if necessary.
It is a 12 volt battery.

You can use, for example, a Yuasa YTZ14S motorcycle battery.
Installing a new battery in a Honda Shadow 600 is very easy to do. The battery is located in the seat area, behind the gas tank. Loosen the clamps that are holding the battery in place with a screwdriver. Then take the old battery out and put the new one in.

On my '98 Shadow the battery is on the left side of the bike behind the side cover. Removal is very straight forward undo the leads and the undo the support bracket and pull the battery up and out at the same time.
haah on the steering wheel! Horn on my 1992 Dodge Shadow 2.2 non turbo is located in the engine compartment, passenger side to the left of the AC compressor bolted to the chassis.
Under the seat. Remove the the bolts holding the seats and you get to the battery.
