The Sunnis are the majority of Muslims. They accept the Qur'an and the Kutub al-Sittah (six major hadiths) as being their guides to faith. They were once ruled by the 'Rightly Guided Caliphs' but now live in a number of different states all over the world.

They believe there is only one deity worthy of worship, and that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His messenger.

Muslims believe in Muhammad as the greatest prophet of Allah.

Sunnis in particular believe that the position of Caliph (leader of the Worldwide Islamic Community) belongs to a strong community leader and not necessarily someone in Muhammad's bloodline.

What distinguishes Sunni Muslims is their exact literal following to the prophet Muhammad's PBUH, the word Sunni means the one who belong to the Sunnah.

Sunnah means all the actions, sayings, commands , recommendations & all the details of the life of the prophet Muhammad PBUH.

Sunni Muslim, as all Muslims, believe in Allah (God in English) oneness and prophet Muhammad as His prophet and Messenger to whom God revealed the Quran, Muslims holy book. They follow Quran teachings and prophet Muhammad (PBUH) guidance per his Sunnah (sayings and practices). They follow the five Islam pillars ans the 6 articles of faith. Refer to question below for more information. The following are extracts from Wikipedia site (link below)for details.EtymologySunni is a broad term derived from Sunnah (سنة[ˈsunna], plural سنن sunan [ˈsunæn]), which is an Arabicword that means "habit" or "usual practice".[6] The Muslim usage of this term refers to the sayings and living habits of Muhammad. In its full form, this branch of Islam is referred to as "maslik-e-Haq Ahlus-Sunnah Wa Al-Jama'ah " (literally, "People of the Sunnah and the congregation"). Anyone claiming to follow the Sunnah and can show that they have no action or belief against the Prophetic Sunnah can consider him or herself to be a Sunni Muslim. However, it should be noted that Shi'a Muslims also hold that they follow the Sunnah.
