get a high lsat score, high undergraduate GPA, get into the best law school top 14, preferrably top 10, and most preferrably top 3 (Yale, Harvard, Stanford). Graduate in the top 25% of your class from a top 10 law school. Go to a firm that is most prestigious according to official lists. Once you are in a big law firm, work like crazy 60-80 hour weeks. Keep it up for 10 years and then you'll make partner. Then you will have more money then you ever need...maybe make $2-$3 million a year.
There is no requirement to become a para-legal in order to become a lawyer. There are some people that do go that route. It provides a way of making money until they can complete law school.
