The Gou Gou is not an American monster, it is Canadian. It is said to reside in the waters near the coast of Miscou Island, New Brunswick. The Gou Gou is often described a female sea monster with a large bag in which she carries sea men away. The Native Americans used to stay away from the island fearing that the Gou Gou would take them away.
