Normal healthy blood pressure for any adult should be around 120/70 to 120/80. The 120 is the systolic number the 80 is the diastolic number. The numbers are the pressure of the blood circulating though the veins. Lower than 120/80 is not as much of a concern as higher numbers, ex: If your blood pressure were to reach 140/85, doctors may just watch it and recommend diet and exercise. However if the pressure increases to where the bottom number (diastolic) is near or over 90, then they may recommend blood pressure reducing medication. When the blood pressure is measured, the numbers can vary from one hour to the next. Stress, tension, after meals, medical conditions, coffee, and rushing around can increases the pressure. It is usually measured a few times before a decision on medication is made.
