I just replaced the resistor in a 1998 Buick LeSabre. The resistor is under the hood. Find the blower motor cover near the center of the firewall, and follow the electrical from it up and to the left. You'll have to remove the cover over the evaporator and fuses, then remove the left side and loosen the right side of the mount for the fuses.
The resistor faces up, it's under the left side of the fuse mount, and the electrical from the motor runs right past it.
Work carefully; the fuel rail runs right through there, too.
i have a 1998 buick century and my blower motor is under the passenger side front wall inside.I found out that the blower motor resister was the problem.if it works on high speed only, replace the resistor first.it's cheaper but harder to get at.
dealer or junkyard
On the evaporator case.
The blower motor resistor is generally located close to the blower motor.
Blower resistor is under the glove box. It is diamond shaped with 2 screws holding it in.
It's under the hood, under the evaporator housing. Find the blower motor housing, almost dead center of the firewall. Follow the cable up and to the left. You'll have to remove the evaporator cover, and loosen the mounts for the fuses. The cable coming from the blower motor runs right past the resistor. The resistor faces up.
the resistor is gonna be right off the blower motor attached to the blower motor by a wire harness should be by the heater core

To replace the blower resistor on a 1998 Mercury Mystique, first, disconnect the negative battery cable for safety. Locate the blower resistor, which is typically found behind the glove compartment or under the dashboard on the passenger side. Remove the screws securing the resistor, disconnect the wiring harness, and then install the new resistor by reversing the removal process. Reconnect the battery and test the blower motor to ensure proper operation.
behind glovebox.
Under the steering wheel panel
Check out this link it's the closest thing to answer I have: http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1g/bl218g.htm It shows possible locations of blower motor and reisistor as well as describing function related to location of resistor.
