I have a 1990 Chevy 1500 truck the brakelight switch is disconnected and it has no connector going to it. I replaced all the bulbs. And still my running lights are in the on position when i turn off the truck. My brake lights are still not working after replacing the lights. I have a RV brake accuator also under the steering column can you help me solve my problem?
The brake lights in your 1983 Nissan pickup truck are controlled by the brake light relay switch. When the brake light relay switch malfunctions the brake lights will stop working.
Check fuse, check bulbs, check brake light switch, in that order.

the old wiring is probly shot cause its an old truck. you should bring it to a mechanic to get it fixed
Under the brake pedal is a brake light switch that when you press the pedal it hits it and makes your lights come on..sometimes when they get weak the pedal depresses them simply from the weight of the pedal and they stay on..Have a friend get inside the truck and pull UP on the brake pedal as you look at the lights..if the brake lights go off when they pull up on it..then it is that switch under the brake pedal
