Can dentist put filling on top of another filling?

Yes in certain condition we can put a filling on another filling. In other cases we have to remove the old filling and put another one. But when there is too much filling on a rooth, it's better to put a dental crown.

Is it accepted practice for a temporary dental crown to be made of filling material?

Temporary or provisional crowns can be made of lots of things, including filling material. By its definition, the temporary crown is designed to only preserve the prep and maintain the space until the permanent crown is ready to be placed. This should be only a fews days to a few weeks. As long as the temporary crown lasts intact until the permanent crown is placed, what it is made of is not all that important.

I recently had a filling tooth come out and there's this soft thing where the tooth used to be what does that mean do I have to put the filling back in my mouth please answer I am really worried?

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. I work as a dental assistant and see this happen all of the time. The soft spot you see is most likely the gum underneath where the tooth used to be. If the entire tooth is missing you will need to get a crown. There is no way to replace a filling without enough tooth there to act as a base for the filling. The crown will probably have to be supported by a bridge which is a metal piece holding the crown in place. If that does not sound like something you want to do then another option is to get a tooth implant. Those are more expensive than a crown and is not typically covered by insurance because it is considered cosmetic. I hope this helps you and try not to worry. Unless there is discoloration in the gums or some type of irritation then you will be fine. I would still get it checked out by your dentist tho because you will need to do something eventually.

What is a crown build up?

A crown build up is done when a person's tooth needs a crown. Usually cause my a large filling breaking or a tooth is broken. Once a tooth is more filling then natural tooth they usually want to put a crown on it. The tooth needs to have a solid foundation in order to support a crown, therefore they have to use special material in order to build the tooth up and prepare it for a crown. Also after any root canal, the dentist will want to put a build up in as teeth become very week after a root canal.. This ensure that the tooth is strong enough to support a crown.. Hope this helps

What is a root canal filled with?

The tooth is protected by a temporary filling or crown until a permanent restoration may be made. This restoration is usually a gold or porcelain crown, although it may be a gold inlay, or an amalgam or composite filling (paste fillings that harden).
