yes the motor will rotate but less then the rated speed and more heat will be desipated
A synchronous motor can be a type of 3-Phase AC motor, or not.A synchronous motor is defined by the period of the rotor being synchronized with the frequency of the stator windings' current. The stator windings might be 3-Phase or not (2-Phase would work). Also synchronous motors are not the only type of 3-Phase AC motors. An induction motor could also be 3-Phase AC and has a few advantages and disadvantages over a synchronous motor.
The toy motor work on the electro magmatic induction
according to a mathematical theory the flux produced when an alternating current flows in a single phase winding , this flux is composed of tow equal components which result in tow equal torques , these torques work in opposite direction to each other , hence one causes the rotor to move in a certain direction while the other in the opposite direction . this is the reason why a single phase induction motor instead of its rotor to move in one direction it vibrates. the resultant of these torques is zero. if the motor is caused to move by an external mean say by hand , then the resultant will no longer zero and the motor continue revolving and it speeds up even the external mean is removed, For a single phase induction motor to be a self starting motor some techniques are used like connecting an additional winding called auxiliary winding and a capacitor which in some designs removed automatically when the motor speed come to a certain value while for other designs these elements continue to be connected . Any single phase induction motor is provided by a starting technique so if it vibrates , then this means that the technique is failed
Yes, by using a DOL Starter, which gives a controlled "soft-start" for the motor even though it is always connected in delta configuration. In this type of starting a 3-phase motor, full voltage is applied to the motor through relays and contactors. Its is the most common type of 3-phase motor starter used.DOL means Direct On-Line starter.
the working principle of single phase induction motor is similar to the three phase induction motor, when we supply is given to the single phase induction motor a revolving field set up in the stator which produces a torqe air gap between north pole and south pole and rotor picks up speed
Because the motor is much simpler and easier to design when the electrical power is supplied to the stator, while the rotor is a short-circuited copper cage. It allows the motor to work with no commutator or slip rings, so induction motors are quiet and have a very long life.
Well the big identifier of a split phase induction motor is the main and aux. winding. The rotor, stator, case, etc. These two windings is what sets it apart from other motors. These windings are phase shifted to produce a rotating magnetic field for starting to allow the motor to have better starting torque.
The winding design of the motor will not economically allow this to work. You would have to drive a 3 phase generator to supply it.
a three phase motor will work
The blower motor resistor has failed. The blower motor resistor has failed.
In the summer of 1883, Tesla was working in Strasburg, France, where he built his first actual induction motor model and saw it run. That was the first induction motor ever achived and even before the one Galileo Ferrari of Italy invented.
The motor cannot be altered to work on single phase power. You will either have to put in a new single phase motor or use a phase convertor box. Do a google search for phase convertor - you will find plenty.
