Catholic AnswerI believe what you are asking is if a priest MAY say Mass in different states, he certainly CAN, but normally he MAY not. In other words, he is capable of doing it because he is a priest, but he may only say Mass where he has faculties. Normally a priest may only say Mass and hear confessions in his own diocese. His Bishop normally extends faculties to him as soon as he is ordained. This would be a separate license that is usually given to the priest at the ordination ceremony. If a neighboring diocese has reciprocal faculties with his diocese then he may say Mass there, otherwise, he would need to apply to the Bishop of that diocese to receive permission to say Mass.I believe that can be done with the Approval of the Dioceses Bishop for diocesisan priests. However, for missionary orders, and non-dioceses priests, like Jesuits, Franciscans, etc. who travel the countries and the world, I don't know if there is any approval necessary
.Catholic AnswerA priest has a small license from his bishop saying that he is permitted to say Mass. To say Mass outside of his diocese he must obtain permission from the Bishop of that diocese and the pastor or rector of the local Church he is in. Some dioceses have reciprocal permissions standing between neighboring dioceses. I believe in Fatima, he would need to obtain permission from the Rector of the Basilica who would have contact with the bishop.
Of course. A Priest can say or help in a Mass as long as it is in a ROman Catholic Church in any church anywhere. In fact if a priest is in the congregation he is expected to help esp during the consecration in order to fulfill his daily Mass requirements
A bishop is first of all a priest and can say mass as any priest can.
The village priest.
Yes, he is. If it is not a Sunday or Holy Day, he may choose to omit the Mass if unable to get another priest.
Yes. E.g., a priest who is retired or traveling could say daily Mass by himself. Also, if there's no one else in the parish at that time, he would still say it.AnswerIf you mean one priest per mass, with a congregation, its the norm, though it can be concelebrated . If you mean one priest, alone without a congregation, yes, as the person answered above. .Catholic AnswerTechnically, a priest is never supposed to say a Mass entirely alone, he should have an altar server. This is called a private Mass, e.g. a Mass said with no "congregation". However, even if there is no altar server available, a priest is never entirely alone as at every Mass there is always a host of Angels standing in honor of their Lord and God. At one small monastery I visited there were two priests who always said a private Mass and they took turns being each other's server.
Priests, Deacons, and Bishops celebrate the First Mass of Christmas, and an awful lot of Catholics.Any Catholic priest can say midnight mass. There are no particular rules about it. Anyone can go to it.
Catholic AnswerDifferent dioceses may have different regulations on when an anticipated Sunday or Holy Day Mass may be celebrated on the day before. It must be late Afternoon or evening, a Saturday Mass celebrated with the weekday (Saturday) readings does NOT count as your Sunday obligation. The important thing is whether the actual Mass being said is the Mass of Sunday or the Holy Day: i.e., it has three readings from the Sunday, the Gloria, Creed, etc. If the Sunday Mass is being celebrated, then it fulfills your obligation. If it is another Mass, say, perhaps a Saturday Mass being celebrated in the afternoon for a wedding, then it would not count for your obligation. If you have a particular question about a particular situation, please ask the priest who will be saying the Mass.
A priest is a member of the clergy of the Catholic Church. A priest can administer most of the sacraments, say mass and transform bread into His Body and wine into His Most Precious Blood.
No, only a priest can say Mass. An Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist could, with pastoral permission, hold a Communion Service and distribute hosts that were previously consecrated by a priest.
You can go to confessions at mass and you tell the priest and he can't tell anyone, then he will tell you what prayers to say and you say them
A deacon cannot celebrate a full Mass (meaning they cannot consecrate the bread and wine for a Mass), hear confessions, or anoint the sick. They can baptize, marry outside of Mass, and bless things and people. They can be married before they are ordained, but once they are ordained they cannot get married or remarry.
