A very insightful question! I am not a priest or theologian, but I am a layman with some knowledge. Of course, the Roman church urges Catholics to worship, to pray (offer praise, make petitions, and give thanks). All of these things can be offered directly to God. However, priests play a special role in some rituals, where the priest acts on behalf of the individual or congregation. The mass is a good example. The worship offered at the mass (at least as far as the sacrificial elements of the mass are concerned) is offered directly by the priest, and not the people attending. Also, according to the Roman church, Catholics cannot ask for and receive forgiveness of sin without the intervention of a priest. The church would make an exception, I believe, for situations of grave and imminent danger.

We Catholics can talk directly to God.Yes, we can talk directly to God, but so can any believer. The difficulty comes in hearing God's response. If you tell God it's a really nice day and thank him, you may hear His "your welcome" in the form of a gentle breeze, or hearing a song bird, or seeing a butterfly. If you are asking Him for something, He may say yes and give it to you right away, or He may say no, or not yet. If you are lonely or hurting but have cultivated your friends through Faith, God will come and comfort you through those friends. It's a matter of studying, loving, serving and praying that help one talk to God. In this day and age, too many of us forget about Our Father in Heaven. As good as things can be on this earth, it's important to live a holy life, so that in our next life we may be with God, the Father, the Son, Jesus and The Holy Spirit which is love itself.

But remember that belief is exactly that! Belief! You can believe anything you want with religion as there is never any need to demonstrate or prove it hence it appears wonderful as you can answer stupid questions with stupid answers and everyone is happy but really none the wiser!

Catholics believe that by praying, they are talking to God. There is no response, so there is no evidence that those prayers are heard by God, but at least there is the belief that there is a God and that he listens to prayers.

Can Catholics intercede with God without a priest?

Certainly, Catholics are required to intercede directly with God. The priest is there as God's chosen emissary. Normally, when God is speaking directly with a person, He is speaking through some means: the Bible, the priest, the Mass, etc.

Why don't assemsbly of god believe catholics are christians?

Becaus Catholics aren't Christians. Catholics believe that you have to go through the High Priest to talk to God, they believe that you'll go to purgetory if you do something wrong you didn't confess, and they pray to the saints. Christians, on the other hand, don't believe they need to go through someone else to talk to God (Jesus took care of the sepparation), they believe that if you rely on Jesus to get to heaven then you will go to heaven (no pergetory), and they only pray to God because the saints are only human.

What are the types of Catholics?

Catholic AnswerTypes of Catholics? Your would have to be more specific. There are fervent Catholics, lukewarm Catholics, there are priests, religious, and laity. There are no real "types" of Catholics, there are just Catholics, they are all human beings in need of God's mercy who are trying to do God's will.

Do Catholics believe in Jehovah?

Jehovah is a name for God. Catholics believe in God. They just don't generally use Jehovah as a name for God, but it is the same God. So yes, you could say that Catholics believe in Jehovah.

Jesus died so we would be in right relationship with God and go directly to him and pray Why do Catholics feel they can't do that?

You are misinformed about what Catholics believe. Catholics pray directly to God all the time; actually we pray directly to God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) most of the time. However, sometimes we ask others to pray for us too.Catholics believe in intercessory prayer, where we may ask Jesus' mother Mary or a saint (or someone else) to pray for us. This does not negate our ability to pray directly to God. There is no difference in this and asking a friend, parent, or pastor to pray for you, as this is intercessory prayer as well.Bible references:2 Th 1:112 Th 3:1Eph 6:18-19Rom 15:30Rev 5:8
