HIV progresses to AIDS, which breaks down the immune system, making it more difficult to fight off more common viruses like the cold, pneumonia, etc. These then attack the system more viciously, sometimes resulting in death.

Yes. HIV leads to AIDS. HIV basically means your immune system is deficient, the virus is destroying your immune system. Then you have AIDS which means you have no immune system and you are therefore prone to every disease. No immune system means you will die from any disease. So yeah, HIV will lead to your death if it doesn't kill you personally.

HIV has the potential to be a deadly virus. The effects of HIV on the body are no different now than they were 20 years ago when those infected had less effective treatment options. Now, however, HIV is classified has a chronic illness rather than terminal. Being diagnosed HIV positive is no longer a death sentence, unless a person chooses to not pursue treatment.

It destroys one`s immune system & the infected person then has no defence against infections, also Sacospious lympona, a form of cancer? often presents itself in the last stages of AIDS, it is not the HIV infection itself that kills
