The "smartphone" class of cell phones are essentially mini-computers. Smartphones can run entire operating systems, just like laptop computers. You connect it to your computer or laptop and go to "My Computer", if you have a Mac computer/laptop you go to "Macintosh" and right click on your phone or other device. It will give you the option to "format" it. Which means to delete EVERYTHING off of it.
