Not if they are well made. A featherbed filled with properly cleaned feathers will not exacerbate dust allergies. For extra security, use a featherbed cover with a membrane to block feather particles from leaking out.
People with allergies have been encouraged to stay away from featherbeds however there are some made with "allergy-free feathers".
Featherbed covers can always be bought at Bed, Bath & Beyond or at your local mattress store. You can find featherbed covers anywhere that you can purchase a featherbed. Many shopping websites carry featherbed covers in a variety of sizes and prices.

I have a QVC featherbed, can I put a Silentnight electric blanket on top of it.
No, the feathers are cleaned before being use to make the featherbed.
It will not get your featherbed very clean, you should instead use a steam cleaner.
Typically you put a fitted sheet over your featherbed and make your bed like you always do.
Rats!
A featherbed goes under the bottom (fitted) sheet. Even better, to protect it, put the featherbed directly on top of the mattress, then put a mattress protector/pad on top of the featherbed, then the fitted sheet. The mattress pad can be regulary washed while many feather beds are not washable, even if made from synthetic materials.
Their is not reason why not.
No, simply air it out.
