Read your EULA. The license encourages you, and only you, to use the PC, even if you install sshd or vnc so others can use it. Now ask yourself if Debian Linux is a multiuser operating system.
In 2005, Lexmark advised me that "network sharing" an X7170 is only supported by their WinXP driver. Their Win98/WinME driver doesn't support this attachment method, and wiull not be enhanced. Try this workaround: -- USB connect the X7170 to your WinXP PC and install it there -- Then define it as a 'peer-to-peer' shared printer resource in that PC -- Now any other PC in that workgroup should be able to use it (through the WinXP PC) like any other shared resource Good luck...
You can run a virtual machine under WIN7 and run whatever OS you might need to satisfy Borderlands. Start-->All Programs-->Windows Virtual PC-->Windows Virtual PC or Windows XP Mode. I have several versions of Linux running as virtual machines on my install in addition to WINXP.
Buy and activate a legit copy of WinXP.
Yes, but only if your motherboard supports the ability to boot to alternate IDE devices\drives. If your WinXP system does support this then you will need to temporarily install the hard disk from the old Win98 system as the primary master and install your Win98 OS on it. The installation of Win98 on the hard disk drive will not work in your system running XP. Win98 Plug and Play is more Plug and Pray, so don't bother trying. Backup you data first because install the win98 OS probably will remove all your data. Remember to remove the XP hard disk so you don't install win98 over it. Once you are done with the install of Win98 you will need to re-install the Winxp drive as the primary master and configure the win98 hard disk as secondary master. Your BIOS setup should allow you to select what drive to boot with. Good Luck!!!
