Jehovah's Witnesses choose not to use Christmas trees because The Bible makes no mention of using such a thing to honor our King and Savior Jesus Christ. Also, their origin is from pagan customs. In addition, holiday trees and other decorations cost a lot of money, which could be put to better use elsewhere. Each one of Jehovah's Witnesses individually must use his or her Bible trained conscience, along with personal research, to decide whether or not to allow a Christmas tree (or anything else based on the world's popular traditions) to be displayed or not. See Matthew 15:8,9.
If one of Jehovah's Witness does decide to have a holiday tree, this would constitute apostasy and such a one would be accountable to Jehovah God, who clearly states that it is Him alone one must worship. Of course, if another (unbelieving) member of one's household chooses to use a Christmas tree, the Witness member would want to show love to their family by accepting it, and simply not taking part in decorating or showing veneration to it in any way.
